Kathleen Dore is
President, Television & Radio, CanWest MediaWorks.
In her previous position, she was President, Entertainment Services with
operating responsibility for all of the film-based services operated by
Rainbow Media - AMC, IFC Companies and WE: Women's Entertainment. A talented
business person and television professional whose creativity and ingenuity
have made her a leader both at Rainbow Media and in the cable industry, Ms.
Dore will extend the networks' leadership in their respective categories.
Ms. Dore joined Rainbow Media in 1982 as affiliate marketing manager for
what was then known as Rainbow Media Programming Services. Since that time
Ms. Dore has held a number of positions with increasing responsibility
within the company. Most recently she held the position of president, IFC
Companies, which included overseeing all strategic planning, development,
and operations for IFC (The Independent Film Channel) and IFC Entertainment,
their film production and distribution arm. Among many accomplishments, Ms.
Dore was responsible for the development, launch and success of the
award-winning IFC and IFC Entertainment. Recently she successfully executed
IFC's brand extension into the on-demand arena with the creation of IFC On
Demand and Uncensored On Demand. Ms. Dore will soon launch a new brand
extension with the creation of The IFC Center, a theater complex and
production facility for filmmakers located in NYC. She is also responsible
for the success of Bravo, now owned by NBC. Ms. Dore is Chair of the Women
in Cable and Telecommunications Foundation (WICT), and a member of The
Marketing Society for the Cable and Telecommunications Industry (CTAM) and
New York Women in Film. She is a frequent lecturer at New York University's
Stern School of Business Administration. Ms. Dore is a recipient of the Lee
Salk Goodworks Award for her outstanding contribution to the fields of
business and the arts by Theatreworks/USA and is a 2002 Girls Incorporated
honoree. Ms. Dore earned an MBA in finance and a BA in film & broadcasting
from the University of Iowa in 1984 and 1972, respectively. In 1998, she
received the university's Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award and is a
member of the College of Business Advisory Board. Ms. Dore often returns to
the school to present seminars for business students. |
